Hockey teams from across the region have netted success after raising £1,000 at a charity tournament.

The annual hockey tournament was hosted by commercial property agent Reeves and Partners at the Warwick Foundation School hockey pitches on Myton Road.

The event was organised to raise money for local grant-giving organisation the Heart of England Community Foundation, which awards grants to support a wide range of community projects across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire.

Five teams competed in the round-robin event including Warwick, Olton, Stratford, Old Warwickians and Coventry and North Warwickshire.

Old Warwickians were crowned winners of the event, while Coventry and North Warwickshire secured second place.

Richard Pomfret, managing director of Reeves and Partners which has offices in Coventry and Leamington, said: ìThe tournament was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all participants involved.

The annual event, which is now in its fourth year, is a great opportunity for the teams to hone their pre-season skills at the same time as raising money for a great cause.

A £20 voucher, donated by Warwick Sports Shop, was also awarded to Dom Bell from Coventry and North Warwickshire after he netting four goals.

This yearís nominated charity is the Heart of England Community Foundation and we are delighted to have raised £1,000 which will help to benefit a worthy project in the community.î

Tina Costello, of the Heart of England Community Foundation, added: ìWe are really grateful to Reeves and Partners and the local hockey teams for helping to raise funds at their annual charity hockey tournament.

The money will support amazing projects and groups that help to make a positive difference in the heart of the community.î
