Nuneaton firm celebrates 100th year with expansion

A leading commercial property agent is helping an engineering firm to celebrate its 100th anniversary in new surroundings.

Cogsdill, a precision tooling manufacturer for the metalwork’s industries, is set to power its way to expansion and celebrate 100 years in business at new premises at St Georges Way, on the Bermuda Industrial Estate, in Nuneaton.

The freehold sale of the 27,384 sq ft property marks a double deal to have been completed by commercial property agents Reeves & Partners who also secured the letting of the neighbouring warehouse building on behalf of Montgomery Property Group which owned both buildings.

Cogsdill plans to expand its operations at the site and increase stock levels to meet an increase in demand across the petrochemical, medical, pharmaceutical and aerospace industries.

The firm, which exports 80 per cent of its products overseas, is also set to invest around £400,000 in new machinery as well as adding a new inspection facility at the site.

Lee Donaldson, executive director at Cogsdill, said: “We are delighted to be moving into larger warehouse premises just in time to mark our 100th anniversary.

“Our operations have increased considerably over the last few years and it had become difficult to continue doing business at our previous premises at Tenlons Road in Nuneaton.

“We currently have a turnover of around £4.2 million with a target of six million in the next two years so the additional factory space will be well-suited to meet the needs of the expansion.”

He added: “We will now be able to contain our operations under one roof making it easier to control the flow of materials within the factory and we are also looking to invest in new machinery.

“Once this is completed we are hoping to employ more operators but with a shortfall in the number of skilled engineers available we will also be looking to invest heavily in new technology which will enable us to overcome that.”

Richard Pomfret, managing director at Reeves & Partners, said the expansion has come at the right time for Cogsdill.

“It is great to see a local firm celebrate a century in business. Cogsdill wanted to relocate to larger premises in the Nuneaton area in order to expand their operations. “The size and layout of the building was well-suited to meet the company’s needs and after a number of renovations the factory and office space is starting to take shape.

“Cogsdill has made a number of refurbishments to enhance the property’s offering, including an upgrade to its electrics system and extensive restorations to the factory area.

Richard added: “The Bermuda Industrial Estate has proved a popular base for local businesses and we are delighted to have secured both a sale and a letting at the estate.

“The deals highlight a resurgence in the strength of the commercial property market, with businesses becoming more confident to invest in new premises.”
